HOW WILL THE GM MDI BE USED?

The new GM MDI can be used only in the Pass-Thru method. This means you can use it as your programming tool, while your Tech 2/CANdi remains available for diagnostics and other duties.

The GM MDI is initially being introduced with Pass-Thru programming capabilities only. It can be used to perform Pass-Thru programming on all vehicles built since 1996 and will support all vehicles into the future.

The GM MDI will be required to perform diagnostics on selected NAO vehicles for model year 2009. Diagnostic software is scheduled to be released for the GM MDI during the fourth quarter of 2008.

Regulations require programming procedures to be compliant with SAE Recommended Practice J2534. The GM SPS is compliant with SAE Recommended Practice J2534, and the GM MDI is compliant with the portions of SAE J2534 that are applicable for GM vehicles.

What protocols does the GM MDI support?

For immediate use — At present, vehicles have two buses on the 16 pin connector
(high speed and low speed GMLAN). The GM MDI communicates using all of the existing GM protocols, the same as the Tech 2:
– UART
– Class 2
– KWP2000
– GMLAN (CAN)
Beginning with the 2008 model year vehicles, Pass-Thru will be the only programming method available. (Remote will continue to be available for previous vehicles.)

(Solved) VXDIAG VX Manager license expiration 12/31/2020

Got everything up and running. I noticed the VX Manager license showed an expiration of 12/31/2020. That about right?

Yea, about right, and when I was setting up TIS2000 and upgraded the license for it, noticed that it was slightly longer date than the initial nano license to start with when I was setting up T2w. So got a feeling that is only upgrades the license for so long from a given date,, but if you go in later, it will further the license by the same time frame for a later date instead.

The only really downside I see, is in GDS2 for the GM MDI side of things, and wondering if there is going to be any updates to the cracked version. Hence in GDS2, GM global 2016.4.0 , the latest corvette is the 2016 model, with nothing listed for 2017, nor 2018 models.

With any luck, they get the on cloud version completed for GM, and it will either have the updates, or at least allow you to use the online version for the 2017 and later GM models instead.

If you did not see the cloud version, go to VX manager, to the far right tab, and will bring you up to speed.

You will be connected to the cloud. Mazda IDS software will be there.

Open Mazda IDS, start new session, and choose all other. Try to see whether your car information is correct or not. You can start to use it now!

If your device is a multi one – VXDIAG multi diagnostic tool, and you want to do other car models. you can click Diagnostic Cloud Apps and choose the model you want.

What if MDI is unable to connect on Wireless interface

1.What if MDI is unable to connect on Wireless interface ?
* Check the wireless card is properly seated in the MDI.
* Confirm LEDs on the wireless card are lighted when the MDI is powered.
* Verify the GM MDI and PC are within range of the Access Point or Router.
* Verify that the PC is connected to the Access Point or Router.
* Verify signal strength of the wireless network from the PC.
* Check Firewall Settings on your PC
* USB connection takes precedence, unplug USB cable.
* Wired Ethernet connection takes precedence, unplug Ethernet cable.
* Connect to MDI using USB and run MDI Manager to verify the Wireless Settings are configured correctly. ( Refer to: How do I configure the Wireless interface* )
oWireless interface is enabled.
oAP settings configured for proper security (authentication, encryption).
oSignal Quality (fair, good, excellent) indicates connected to AP.
oThe MDI, PC and AP are on the same subnet
oIf using static IP, verify the IP Address and Subnet mask are correct (supplied by network administrator.

2.What if MDI is unable to connect on USB interface?
* Check USB cable connections.
* Check Firewall Settings on your PC.
* Verify a USB Hub is not being used (MDI has a fixed USB address).
* Verify that only one MDI is connected to your PC using USB.
* Verify the USB driver has been installed on the PC (look for device name ‘ETAS USB Remote NDIS Network Device’ under Network Connections).
* Try connecting to other USB ports on the PC.

3.What if MDI is unable to connect on Wired Ethernet ?
* Check Ethernet cable connections.
* Check Firewall Settings on your PC.
* Verify the MDI and the PC are cabled into separate LAN connections on the same network.
* Verify that the PC is properly configured and can communicate on the network.
* USB connection takes precedence, unplug USB cable.
* Connect to car diagnostic scanner MDI using USB and run MDI Manager to verify the Wired Ethernet Settings are configured correctly. ( Refer to: How do I configure the Wired Ethernet interface* )
oWired Ethernet interface is enabled.
oIf using static IP, verify the IP Address and Subnet mask are correct (supplied by your network administrator).
