BMW carsoft V6.5 interface user guide for beginners

I bought BMW CarSoft v6.5 entire kit from China for less than 50USD including the shipping to Ireland. I am driving a BMW 1994 325i Coupe M50B25 Euro left hand drive.

Package including:

BMW 6.5 Interface Unit

BMW OBDI 20 Pin Cable

BMW OBDII 16 Pin Cable

RS-232 Serial (COM) cable

BMW CarSoft v6.5 software CD

Computer:

Attach the carsoft v6.5 interface to my old Win XP PC with COM port.

NOTE:

If your computer does not have a serial port, a PCMCIA serial card must be used.

A USB to Serial adaptor is not recommended and not supported in Carsoft.

A PCMCIA adaptor card is not included in Carsoft.

Please refer to the installation instructions that come with your PCMCIA Card.

Serial Port RS-232 on the PC/Laptop:

Well let’s get right to it.

No tool is perfect. Not all of those functions are available for all BMWs. Everything looks nice and promising, but… The newer BMW you have the more satisfaction you get from diagnose. I have OBDI and I couldn’t enjoy LIVE DATA and some other modules. If your model is 1994 later, it will be fine.

Tips for OBD2 car, if you get every modules not responding or DDE responding and all the other modules not responding.
Here is the solution. With the soldering iron, bridge the pin 7 and 8 (the 2 K-line) together

This will fix this problem on most E39 and E46
Another tip if you get a similar problem using a 20-pin on a 4-cylinder BMW try bridging the pin 17 and 20
BTW, if you have broken your CD like me, never mind, I got the free carsoft software driver
