The Update application allows you to download the latest released software. The updates can improve the MaxiDAS applications’ capabilities, typically by adding new tests, new models, or enhanced applications to the database.

The DS7808 Tablet automatically searches for available updates for all of the MaxiDAS software when it is connected to the internet. Any updates that are found can be downloaded and installed on the device. This section describes installing an update to the MaxiDAS System. A notification message displays if an update is available when the Notifications Center function is enabled in the Settings application

1.Navigation and Controls
Home Button – returns to the MaxiDAS Job Menu.
Update All – updates all available updates.
Search Bar – search specific update item by inputting the file name,
for example: a vehicle make.

2.Status Bar
Left Side – displays the MaxiDAS device model information and serial number.
Right Side – displays an update progress bar indicating the
completion status.

3.Main Section
Left Column – displays vehicle logos and update software version information.
Middle Column – displays a brief introduction about the new changes to the software operation or capabilities. Tap oi button to open an information screen to view more details, and tap the dim area around to close the window.
Right Column – according to the operation status of each software item, the button displays differently.

a) Tap Update to update the selected car diagnostic scanner.
b) Tap Pause to suspend the updating procedure.
c) Tap Continue to go on updating the suspended update.

How to update AUTEL DS808 software:

1.Make sure the Display Tablet is connected to a power source with stable access to the internet.

2.Tap the Update application button from the MaxiDAS Job Menu; or tap the update notification message when received one; or tap the Update icon on Vehicle Menu in Diagnostics application. The Update application screen displays.

3.Check all available updates:
If you decide to update all the items, tap the Update Allbutton.
If you only want to update one or some of the item(s), tap the Update button on the right column of the specific item(s).

4.Tap the Pause button to suspend the updating process. When you tap Continue to renew the update, the updating process will resume
from the break point.

5.When the updating process is completed, the firmware will be installed automatically. The previous version will be replaced.

How to update Autel DS808 firmware:
This option allows you to update the firmware of the Car Scanner Connect the scan tablet with the vehicle through DLC or use the mini USB cable for power supply. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the operation. Internet connection is necessary for this operation.

Throttle Tolerance Programming Mode
Description: This mode allows the user to program throttle tolerance and effectively pair a PCM and pedal. When a new PCM or pedal has been installed, the previous values stored in the PCM may not match the specific tolerance of the pedal and need to be reprogrammed.

Notes: This mode requires simultaneous inputs from a user on the throttle pedal as well as the multifunction light stalk. When programming, follow the steps in a deliberate, but not rushed, manner.

The entire process should take approximately 3-4 seconds. If the process is completed either too fast or too slow, the pairing will fail.

Procedure: Consult the Quick Reference Guide and set the DIP switches accordingly. With the engine off and ignition on, plug the module into the OBD port and follow the steps below:
1. When the module is ready, the Professional Diagnostic Tools Electronic Throttle (ETC) Indicator (a lightning bolt surrounded by two vertical lines) will flash on the dash.
2. To start the pedal routine, pull the headlight stalk back into the “Highbeam Flash” position, then release the headlight stalk allowing it to fall back into the “Highbeam Off” position. The routine has now started.
3. Press and hold the pedal all the way to the floor.
4. Move the headlight stalk forward to the “Highbeam On” position.
5. Release the pedal completely.
6. Move the headlight stalk back to the ”Highbeam Off” position.
7. The routine is now completed.
8. Turn the ignition Off, wait, then start the engine. Test the pedal and verify that it is functioning properly. If not, repeat steps 2-8.

New Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Setup Mode Description: This mode allows the user to program the vehicle’s VIN number into a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When installing an AEV HEMI BuildersKit with a new PCM, the new module will need to be initialized and paired with the vehicle’s VIN in order for it to properly function.

Notes: After setting the ProCal module’s DIP switches to this mode, no further input is required from the user. The module will determine the vehicle’s VIN and initialize the new PCM accordingly. After programming, the vehicle will need to be key cycled Off, then On.

Without initializing a new PCM, the vehicle’s theft system will prevent the vehicle from running and possibly prevent the engine from cranking.

This mode is only for new PCMs, such as those included in AEV HEMI Builders Kit. If the process is run again the AEV ProCal will report a successful programming (two honks), this is to confirm a proper initialization.

Procedure: Consult the Quick Reference Guide and set the DIP switches accordingly. With the engine off and ignition on, plug the module into the OBD port and wait for the horn to sound. If the horn does not sound, consult the troubleshooting section of these instructions.

Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes Mode
Description: This mode allows the user to turn off the Check Engine Light on the vehicle’s dash. Notes: This function will clear any codes stored in the PCM and TIPM modules. In most cases this will turn off the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) / Check Engine Light on the dash, provided there are no active problems in any of the engine systems. Depending on Active and Stored DTC codes that exist in certain vehicle modules, the AEV ProCal may not honk the horn after successful clearing of DTC codes, this is normal.

Procedure: Consult the Quick Reference Guide and set the DIP switches accordingly. With the engine off and ignition on, plug the module into the OBD port and wait for the horn to sound. If the horn does not sound, consult the troubleshooting section of these instructions.

Extended Idle Mode
Feature Description: This mode allows the user to set the vehicle’s idle speed at a higher level than the stock level (up to 2000 rpm). The newer engine systems found in the latest Chrysler cars idle at a lower speed then previous generation vehicles. These lower idle speeds combined with an electronically sensitive vehicle network can create issues for power intensive tools such as winches and on-board welders.

Notes: To prevent the vehicle from going into a lower power mode or presenting the user with a low power error lamp, the AEV ProCal should only be used while winching, using an on-board welder, or for other power intensive tools.

This feature has a 10 minute timeout. The engine can safely be turned off at any time.

Procedure: Consult the Quick Reference Guide and set the DIP switches accordingly. With the engine on and running, plug the module into the OBD port and engage the e-brake. Use the overhead light dimmer on the multifunction stalk to set the vehicle’s idle speed. To turn the feature off, check to ensure that the vehicle is in park or neutral, press the brakes firmly, and then release the e-brake. The idle should slowly return to its stock level.

Steering Wheel Centering Mode
Description: The ESP system present on all newer Chrysler vehicles utilizes a digital sensor pack in the steering wheel to determine exactly where the user wants the vehicle to go. Disconnecting the steering, or replacing any of the related components (tie rod, front axle etc) can cause this module to become out of correlation with the wheels. To center the wheels with the steering system, the AEV ProCal can indicate to the user exactly where zero is on the internal sensor.

By enabling the Steering Center mode, the ProCal module determines where the steering wheel is and lights up a corresponding turn signal lamp and turn signal indicator. If the wheel is too far to the right, the right indicator will light. If the wheel is too far to the left, the left indicator will light. If the steering wheel is stopped exactly dead center, the highbeam indicator and both turn signal lamps will light.

Notes: This is a feature normally found in the dealer diagnostic tool. The ProCal module will allow the user to perform a proper alignment without having to use the dealer diagnostic tool.

The only way to exactly correlate the wheels with the steering wheel is to complete the process on an alignment rack.

If the function is not terminated properly the lights/indicators may remain stuck on or off. Be sure to exit the mode properly by enabling either turn signal before removing the module. If a clean exit does not occur, plug the module back in, enable the turn signals, and then remove the module. This can also be reset by removing and reconnecting the Positive (+) battery terminal.

Procedure: Consult the Quick Reference Guide and set the DIP switches accordingly. With the ignition on and engine off, plug the module into the OBD port. Use the indications to center the wheel. To exit the mode, activate either the right or left turn signal, and then remove the module.

On occasion, the ProCal module may be unable to complete a desired request for a variety of reasons,including network errors, an invalid DIP switch setting, or a prohibited request. For example, if a user tries to set a TPMS low pressure threshold on a 2007 JK Wrangler, the module will abort and present an error code because the 2007 JK Wrangler does not have TPMS.

When in an error state, the ProCal module will flash a sequence on the dashboard of the vehicle, usually on the vehicle’s theft system indicator (this is most commonly a red LED in the cluster). This is a two stage display, where a sequence is flashed once, followed by a short pause, then another sequence, and finally a longer pause and the code will repeat. Simply count the two sequences and refer to the list below. For example, if using an improper DIP switch combination the user may see 6 flashes followed by a short pause, and then 4 more flashes.

I received my Tech 2 today. It was a longer than expected shipping time but am quite happy with it so far. I have not yet used it and my first task will be to perform a CKP relearn. I’ll let you know how it goes in the following parts.

Package: I did receive the TIS2000 software disc. It was in the bag along with the product stickers. So yeah, I got the full package.

What GM Tech 2 does?
I just performed a CKP sensor relearn and it went perfectly. No problems reported. I also performed a complete diagnostic of my ABS including the motor and EBCM. No problems reported. I also went for a drive for some real time data logging. All looked good. It was amazing to note all of the misfires that were being reported prior to the CKP relearn process. No misfires after the procedure.

Well gentlemen, this unit appears to do everything a real GM Tech2 does. It works perfectly so far. The general quality of the unit also appears to be quite good with a robust case and very bright and clear screen. I am very satisfied so far. I know that I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of what it can do and I guess I will discover its various functions as time goes on. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

What Windows Operation Tech2 is compatible?
I keep an old Windows XP laptop in the garage which has my service manuals for all my cars including the Mercedes BENZ C5. At first I’m not sure what I can do with the TIS2000 software, then after I check find it’s working. Someone said VMWare works, and someone suggest Windows compatibility mode works sometimes. Try setting it for windows 7 compatibility and see if it works then, or try another mode like XP. I haven’t try this, and your options?

(Review) How do I use GM TECH2 to replace Opel Corsa C ECU

This article is just sharing real experience when use GM Tech 2. Hope this helps someone.

I decided to invest in some tools to diagnose my Opel. After a couple weeks of searching all over ebay, aliexpress and other online store, I finally found the cheapest one on, they were very fast to respond and answer all of my questions. I exchanged emails with Customer service for about 3 days before I finally decided to purchase a tech 2 clone here. I ordered it on Tuesday and I picked it up at Friday (I missed the fed ex guy and you have to sign for it). Yes, it only took 3 days delivery!

I paid $349 for it. The quality of this is amazing. I would never be able to tell it was a clone. I hooked it up to my car and was able to replaces Opel Corsa-C ECU at OBD2TOOL.
So here it is….

Below is the procedure, I search and learn from forum members:
1.Obtain all ECU pin codes especially second hand ECUs (immobilizer or engine). Scan old ECU to obtain VIN code and then obtain car passes to match.
2.Obtain all keys they will be required at end of procedure. SPS program new engine ECU with vehicle engine code and VIN number.
3. Configure engine ECU CAN configuration (Engine/ programming/ program CAN configuration)
Configure engine ECU variant configuration (Engine/ programming/ program variant configuration)
4. Reset engine ECU if second hand ECU use pin code from car pass (body/ immobilizer / additional functions/ reset engine ECU)
Reset immobilizer (body/ immobilizer/ additional functions/ reset immobilizer)
Reset BCM (body/ BCM/ additional functions /reset BCM)
Reset instrument cluster (body/ instrument/ additional functions/ reset instrument)
5. Program immobilizer function (engine and immobilizer): this will program everything together includes new keys. Have all keys programmed (body/ immobilizer/ programming/ program immobilizer function).
Check and clear all fault codes Engine immobilizer dash BCM ABS and gearbox. Road test and recheck it.

with DPA5 Adapter, i try to connect with Cummins insite and i have error code 5204 or only no connection and not blinking the leds

This is the error 5204 popped up when connect Prostar 2005 with cummins engine:

Communication between the datalink adapter and the ECM could not be established BY Heavy Duty Scanner.

Please check the following conditions:
The key switch is on
The cables are between the datalink and the ECM are properly connected
The cables are in good condition
The correct adapter type is selected
The correct communication protocol is selected

Here is what have been tried but failed!

Try to connect whit J1939…..same issue

On truck does not even get the engine and the others only couple line and very slow, might be some thing with them trucks

some things odd2006 models connect through J1939 and works.
Tryed on 3 trucks already that are 2005 and older the connect thought J1708 it says engine 128
And when doing the J 1939 test on them it says something like data error

The solution is this, connect, then scan to diagnostic connector but not to USB, open the Cummins insite and push connect, when the Insite begin to connect, immediately connect the USB and ready….

The final tip- Error Messages for communication failures:

Error 5200: Indicates communication loss between computer and the datalink adapter.

Error 5201: Indicates communication loss between the datalink adapter and the ECM.

Error 5202: Indicates no communication could be established between the datalink adapter and the computer.

Error 5204: Indicates no communication could be established between the datalink adapter and the ECM.

If the “Auto Configure” and/or “Datalink Adapter Connection Test” do not find the adapter when connected, manually configure the Cummins INLINE 6 Data link adapter connection.
