Certain ECMs connect to the service tool over two data links at the same time. The service tool shows a message popup when the ECM is only detected on one link. The service tool has been changed to add the text **INCOMPLETE** in the ECM name when the connection is incomplete. Error When Launching Service Tool

There is a Microsoft issue with upgrading libraries during an installation involving certain versions of the C++ redistributable. After a successful service tool installation, when trying to run the service tool for the first time, one of the following errors may occasionally appear: “The entry point could not be located in api-ms-win-crt-runtime” or “The program can’t start because mfc140u.dll is missing from your computer.” If either of these messages is displayed, please let us know and we will send you to step by step troubleshooting guide. This procedure requires administrator rights.

For Cat Electronic Technician to work with the Communication Adapter 3, the settings must be changed to select the Communication Adapter 3 as the Communication Interface Device:

Step 1 Start Cat Electronic Technician.

Step 2 Click the Stop Connect button when it appears.

Step 3 Select the Utilities menu.

Step 4 Choose “Preferences > Modify…”.

Step 5 Select the Communications tab.

Step 6 Select Cat Comm Adapter 3 (RP1210) and click OK.

NOTE: Because a growing number of products require multiple data link service, the “Enable Dual Datalink Service” checkbox has been pre-selected.

Servicing ECMs on more than one data link requires this check box to be enabled.

Failure to do this will result in undetected ECMs and reduced functionality.

My Tech 2 (clone, works great) for my C5 (99) just for the Automated Bleed so I could completely flush the brake system particularly for the EBCM !!! Have since used the crap out of it, ECM/PCM re-learn, crank sensor re-learn etc !!!!

Also, use it to exercise my ABS motor every 3 months.
C5 has the built-in ability to pull vehicle specific DTC’s right in the DIC and those can be exceptionally helpful in diagnosing and correcting common C5 issues.

There are a number of functions in addition to diagnostic troubleshooting that can be accomplished with the Tech II.
and another is the ability to program out unwanted features such as F45 or F55 RPO’s ar program RPO’s into a replacement BCM.

Do recognize that the tool has extremely limited ability to change settings in either the PCM or BCM. To accomplish change you need a programming tool such as HP Tuners or EFI Live and they can change only PCM settings.

How to Find Passat B6 7 byte CS code wtih FVDI 2018

Here’s the guide to find the 7th byte component security (CS) code in the Passat B6 comfort module.  To perform this operation with FVDI 2018, you need to use proper software. This is impossible if use inappropriate software.

MDI 2 Features

Data Link Connector Cable

TheData Link Connector Cable is the external test equipment(ETE) cable that connectsthe  GM MDI2 to the vehicle’s SAEJ1962Data Link Connector (DLC).The DLC Cable with the grey SAE 1962 connector is specifically designed for the MDI 2 and measures 1.8 meters in length.

Power Source

The MDI 2 is intended to be powered from the vehicle battery via the DLC Cablefor normal use. If the MDI 2 does not have sufficient power (12V) to perform vehicle diagnostics, the MDI 2 will inform you of insufficient power for diagnostics by blinking the Vehicle LED in the color Red.  This scenario can be seen when the MDI 2 is only powered from the 5V USB connection to the PC.  If 12V power is lost or not detected while the MDI 2 is communicating with the GDS2 or Tech2Win application, the MDI 2 speaker will also beep to inform you of the loss of power.  Beeping may occur if the DLC is accidently dislodged.

The MDI 2 may be powered over USB only to perform firmware updates fromyour PC. 12V powercan be supplied by the vehicle DLC or the DLC Cable Self Test Adapter.

CANdi adapter connects the Tech II by way of the existing Data Link Connector (DLC) Burndy Connector. The vehicle side connection remains unchanged using the existing adapter to interface between the Burndy connector and the SAE J1962 connector. When functioning properly, CANdi’s LED flashes. IMPORTANT: Sometimes, it’s just problem with candi, as when using on other cars without candi, it’s just perfect. So you should have a good candi such as .
